Introduction
Premfix were recommended by another contractor whom we had worked with on a different project within the Imperial College complex. We secured 2 projects, to begin with, and then our scope of works widened.
Customer requirements
Removal of existing partition walls and replace with frameless glass partitions, to increase the natural light within the office spaces. Install dropped bulkheads to accommodate the M & E services, as these are not able to be changed or adapted. Install different floor finishes within offices and meeting rooms to add some character to the workspaces. Install head duty doors to offices due to the high volume of traffic. Maintain high levels of decorations throughout, including incorporating our colours.
Scope of works
Removal of existing partition walls
Installation of dropped plasterboard bulkheads
Decoration works
Acoustic single glazed partition system,
Installation of solid core paint grade door sets, including decoration.
Ironmongery to all new doors
Supply & install new hard wearing floor finished throughout, including flooring designs.
New reception feature walls and reception desk.
Sliding, folding partition systems to open up the existing floor places into much larger areas when required
Challenges
Due to the vast size of the colleges, M&E services which are generally exposed in many areas, installing glass partitions into these areas is generally not possible unless we construct a solid plasterboard bulkhead. Challenges include neatly scribing around these services as well as providing the key strength to enable us to install the glass partitions below. Due to a working college 7 days a week, we had to adapt to evening working in order to complete our scheduled works. This also included making sure our suppliers and manufacturers could also accommodate these needs.
